Automotive products highlighted by Boehme

15 November 2003

At Tanning Tech, Boehme were demonstrating once again their competency in the automotive sector with a variety of new products and processes. For automotive leather Boehme set their priorities on fatliquors with optimised emission properties which can be applied both on FOC and chrome leathers on different kinds of raw materials and in varying processes. They presented a fully synthetic product Eskatan GLE which can be used both in pickle and tannage. This product is the result of further development of the very successful Eskatan series. The product combines the excellent processing properties of Eskatan GLS and Eskatan GLSW with improved emission characteristics. The products Cutapol TLM, Cutapol 3450-A and Cutapol 3457 represent three main fatliquors on a different raw material basis and of completely different design: Cutapol TLM shows excellent heat and lightfastness and produces leathers with a tight grain. Cutapol 3450-A also shows excellent light yellowing fastness. Leathers treated with this product have a nice, fine milled grain. Cutapol 3457 produces especially soft and light leathers with yellowing properties which are much better than those of fish oil products. All three Cutapol types meet the high requirements for emission behaviour of automotive leathers or are even better. Due to the increasing demand for leathers for automotive interiors, it has become more and more difficult to get hold of high-quality raw materials. In the end, this is the reason for the ever more complex production processes in the leather industry. Boehme are in a position to offer the right product for each individual customer and process. With the syntan Tannit STP the row of newly introduced Boehme products for the automotive sector is completed. Leathers retanned with Tannit STP show a full, round handle and a very fine and even milled grain. The product is especially suited for application on FOC leathers. In Bologna, Boehme presented leather samples for all of the above mentioned products. Furthermore, they presented interesting samples of the FOC leather sector - full-grain as well as split leathers produced without vegetable tanning agents. For the production of shoe upper leathers, they presented the products Tannit TAL, Tannit PSV and Macrol AGC. Tannit TAL is a synthetic retanning agent for full, compact leathers with a tight grain. It has excellent dispersing properties on tanning agents and syntans. Since Tannit TAL does not brighten the leather colour, it is especially suited for the application of dark colours with excellent dye levelness. Macrol AGC is an additive to fatliquoring which definitely improves the grain elasticity and reduces grain cracking. Leathers applied with Macrol AGC can be excellently polished. Macrol AGC does not contain any emulsifiers and can be applied for the production of water-repellent leathers. All automotive, upholstery, shoe and garment leathers and woolskins shown at the Bologna fair have, of course, been dyed with the well-known dyes of M Dohmen. These dyes produce clear, brilliant colours with excellent fastnesses. Besides these leather types, Boehme also showed a range of woolskins, which are distinguished by softness, light weight and, in the suede, wool/hair-on sector, with a fine flesh nap.
