BASF purchase TopStar rollercoater

16 September 2011

Apart from working towards environmental friendly ranges in finishing, BASF Leather Chemicals has recently acquired a ‘TopStar’ rollercoating machine made by Gemata for their technical laboratory in Ludwigshafen, Germany. This will bring them in line with the current technology widely adopted by most modern tanneries and finishing laboratories.

‘Environmental awareness and sustainable development are more important than ever before. We are aware of our role and responsibility as a leading chemical supplier in the industry. Therefore, our focus lies on continuous development of a range of ecological performing products and optimized processes’, emphasizes Thomas Sattler, Vice President, Leather Chemicals.

The new application technique will also enable BASF to specifically develop further, existing NMP/NEP-free top coating products and systems, especially for automotive leather. BASF intents to continue their investment and efforts to expand the range of NMP-free and NEP-free finishing products beyond the automotive segment.
