CLIA report drop in leather shoe exports

According to CLIA’s (China Leather Industry Association) latest data leather footwear exports have declined while imports have increased.


Export of Chinese made leather footwear in the first eight months of 2012 earned US$7.3 billion with exports of 560 million pairs, recording declined of 2.3% and 11.6% respectively. The decline is 11% and 5.7% less than in 2011.

The import of leather footwear into China was 15.1 million pairs valued at US$720 million over the same period, both increased by 19.7% and 26.8% compared to the year before.
