Russia's State Statistics Committee reports that a total of 44,300 people were employed in Russia's leather and leather products industry in the first quarter of this year, 5.0% fewer than in the same period in 2005, according to the Interfax news agency. Macedonia's State Statistical Office reports that the number of people employed in the Macedonian leather industry in the first five months of this year was 6.7% higher than in the same period in 2005.
