Foothold in the USA

10 January 2001

LeatherXchange have established a foothold in the United States with an office in Boston. The company expect to help many of the nation's leather related businesses grow their operations and expand the US share of the $85 billion global leather economy. The US is the third leading contributor to the worldwide leather market behind China and India and ahead of Brazil and Italy. Using a combination of LeatherXchange services delivered through the internet and a global network of offices in Asia, Europe and Latin America, US businesses will be able to simplify and make more efficient the buying and selling of hides and skins. David Doyle, the company's country manager, will build a staff responsible for introducing LeatherXchange's online catalogue and transaction services as well as physical services such as on-site inspection. 'We believe the country's shoe and leathergoods manufacturers, packers and tanneries will not only reduce their business costs by 10% through LeatherXchange but also will grow their portfolios and business.'
