Footwear exports surge in Henan

According to a report released by the Zhengzhou Customs August 23, footwear exports from Henan province in the central part of China, surged by 88.6% in value in the first seven months to US$190 million.


Private enterprises accounted for 70% of exported value, and foreign funded enterprises make up 30% of the value. Henan is a province with a huge population and low cost labour which attracts shoemakers to relocate there from costal cities. The shoemakers have made a great contribution to the high growth in the region, the report said.
