Gemata upgrade splits

24 January 2011

Italian finishing equipment makers, Gemata will be highlighting and promoting an innovative solution for upgrading splits at the IILF 2011. Ideal for upgrading automotive upholstery this process allows the finisher to apply a base coat on wet stucco.

By using a finishing line composed of their Jumbostar rollercoater to apply stucco and Megastar to apply a base coat, splits can be completely finished thus removing the need for buffing.

By applying the base coat on the wet stucco, both coats penetrate into the leather structure obtaining high quality leather that cannot be achieved by the traditional systems. Since the buffing is no longer necessary, the production process is reduced and stucco-drying operations are avoided. The removal of one of the drying stages also improves the feel and touch of the finished leather.

Gemata’s finishing equipment has been designed to be as eco-friendly as possible with a low environmental impact and low energy consumption.
