Leather Naturally! initial results presented at ACLE

29 August 2012

Leather Naturally! are hosting a short meeting to update members and others interested parties in how the programme is developing. Leather Naturally! have completed the initial research/analysis aspect of their work and are now finalising the language, tools and the targets for the next steps.

The meeting will be on day 2 of the ACLE in Shanghai, September 5 in the seminar room located outside Hall E2, room E2-M20. It will take place between 11am  - midday.

It has been a busy summer for the leather industry with worries about the status of leather related to carbon footprinting (especially the issue of methane from cows), The Puma Chairman saying he would like to stop using leather and the Washington Post saying that for a "green" Olympics we should have not used leather footwear. As a result seeing some of the research LN! have commissioned will be most valuable. Most of the responses they have been involved in writing are to be found at www.leathernaturally.org
LN! Spokesperson, Michael Redwood says: “The Leather Naturally! programme of activity is primarily a focus on consumer communications, which is the area, which is not covered by our industry apart from some patchy and largely descriptive material from selected brands. The consumer never has access to the tanners view of what leather really is.”
If you cannot make the meeting but would like more information you can contact Leather Naturally! via email or Twitter.
