Macedonian first-half production

Macedonia's State Statistical Office has reported that the production of leather and leather products in Macedonia in the first half of this year was 8.5% lower than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, manufacturing output in Macedonia in the January to June period was 9.9% higher year-on-year.


The average gross monthly wage in the Macedonian leather industry in the first five months of this year was US$286, 50.2% higher than in the same period last year. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's manufacturing sector in the January to May period this year was 7.5% higher year-on-year at US$514. The number of employees in Macedonia's leather industry in the first half of this year was 0.3% lower than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, the overall number of employees in the country's manufacturing sector was 0.7% higher year-on-year. .
