Macedonian leather production

Macedonia's State Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Macedonia in March was 20.7% lower than in February and 25.4% lower than in March 2008.


In comparison, the monthly increase in Macedonia's industrial output in March was 9.%, and the annual decrease, 4.8%.

The number of people employed in Macedonia's leather industry in the first quarter of this year was 1.2% lower than in the same period in 2008. In comparison, the number of people employed in Macedonia in this year's first quarter was 4.4% lower year-on-year.

The average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's leather industry in February was US$273, 0.4% lower than in January and 21.5% higher than in February 2008. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's manufacturing sector in February was 3.8% lower year-on-year at US$419.
