Mexicans secure funding for growth in Asia

31 October 2002

Organisers of the Anpic exhibition together with Cofoce and the Mexican tanners' association have secured funding for a major export promotion of Mexican leather and leather products for 2003. The Asian region has been identified as a key target market. Starting with the ACLE this September, Mexican exporters are looking to increase their presence in international markets, especially China. 'We are anticipating that Mexico will be the focus country at both the APLF and ACLE exhibitions in 2003 and we will bring a strong Mexican feel to the Asian shows including mariachi bands and tequila', says Oscar Murrieta, marketing manager. It is anticipated that following a very successful show this year, the Mexican pavilion will increase at the ACLE next year and the Anpic organisation are going to establish an office in China to represent the Mexican leather sector. This year, nine Mexican companies attended. Anpic have also announced that the Poliforum venue is being extended for the show from February 22-25, 2003. The larger space will allow more companies to exhibit within the Poliforum building.
