Mosconi launch updated Super Zenit

23 January 2007

During the next edition of Tanning Tech to be held in 2007, Mosconi will introduce the latest version of its Super Zenit splitting machine (version 2007). Super Zenit is known for its compliance with the most recent safety standards, its construction from premium quality materials, as well as for its precision splitting, performance capacities, reliability and low maintenance costs. One of the most important modifications concerns the upper crossbeam, which is now equipped with five adjustments for setting up counter rollers (the previous model featured four adjustment points). Figure 1 shows a simple view of the upper transport group with counter rollers 1, 2, 3 and 4. The counter roller adjustment setting represents one of the most important elements to obtain greater control of thickness in splitting, especially during cambering of the gauge roller. A fifth adjustment has been added in the central position marked C on Figure 1. The ability to adjust counter rollers provides the following benefits during splitting: * in lime or wet-blue (leather is fed in from the butt): with the gauge roller, set parallel to the ring roller (counter rollers against gauge roller), the camber of counter rollers 2 and 3 can be changed by moving away from the surface of the gauge roller according to the strain applied. Using adjustment A it is possible to adjust the gauge roller and counter rollers 2 and 3 thus guaranteeing perfect stability of the upper transport group as the hide passes through (see figure 3); * wet-blue (feed-in flank to flank): splitting special hides (eg exotics), using adjustments A, B and C it is also possible to obtain excellent thickness in the hump area (Zebu hides) (see Figure 4). Correct setting up of counter rollers, using adjustments A, B and C gives the operator the ability to compensate for particular areas of the hide and ensures greater control over thickness during splitting. In addition, the combined action of adjustments A, B and C, according to the operator's experience, enables the operator to process special hides to specific thicknesses.
