Muirhead award for safety

Andrew Muirhead & Son, a subsidiary of Scottish Leather Group, have had its approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health recognised in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2012.The company achieved the gold level of recognition, and will be presented with their award at a ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow in September.


Dating back to 1956, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme does not just look at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.

Andrew Muirhead Managing Director, Colin Wade, said: ‘We take our approach to safety and well-being in the work place very seriously and are delighted with the gold award from RoSPA, which illustrates that our policies are continually being updated and most importantly, are effective.’
