New generation Scotchgard

17 June 2002

3M Protective Materials are introducing a new generation of protective treatments for leather under the name of Scotchgard by the autumn. They introduced their first protective product to the leather industry in 1970. New Scotchgard can be used with all hides and skins, ranging from footwear and garments to leathergoods and upholstery uses. New Scotchgard protector for leather will replace the current 3M products: wet end operations (FC-3573), aqueous finishing operations (FC-3583) and solvent based finishing operations. Scotchgard Protector finish is applied during the tanning process, allowing for a thorough penetrating treatment of the leather. While creating a barrier of protection, the leather stays soft, pliable and breathable.
