New German trade fair for the automotive industry

30 January 2003

VehTec is a new leather industry trade fair specifically for suppliers of the automotive industry. The fair will be held for the first time in Pirmasens, Germany, from October 9-11, 2003. 'This trade fair is important and necessary and is being held in exactly the right place', says Albert Lang, PMF Maschinenfabrikation GmbH. 'We will not - and cannot - stand still of we want to enjoy continuing market success', Lang continues. 'We need the ideas and stimulus from industry to develop our business, and the best way of developing new ideas is in face-to-face contact with the customer.' 'Quite simply, this target group (specialist leather processing and technical textiles) has never had a proper platform in the past', says Haike Neaemi Wagner, project manager for VehTec at Messe Pirmasens, the trade fair management company. 'VehTec is a specialist event, providing the first opportunity for suppliers of the automotive industry to focus the entire attention of the industry on what they can do and on their importance within the automotive industry creation chain.' In Rhineland-Palatinate alone, there are around 120 small-to-medium-sized enterprises within this sector. Across Europe as a whole, at least 3,500 businesses play an important role in the areas of production and development, process engineering, materials management and logistics. Worldwide, this figure is as high as 13,000.
