New leather show for Paris

29 June 2001

A new European leather fair called Le Cuir a Paris makes it debut at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, Paris, from October 5-7, 2001. Organised by the SIC Group Paris, who ran the Semaine International du Cuir for over 50 years, the new event will have its own distinctive personality and focus on the medium to high quality end of the market. It will present the world of leathers and furs from all over the world to quality manufacturers of footwear, leathergoods, garments, furniture and automobiles. Exhibition spokesperson Elisabeth Saliba said: 'Our aim is to create a select forum for professionals in the medium to high sector of the leather industry at the most appropriate time in the fashion calendar for creating luxurious and quality collections. Quality, creativity and fashion are our watchwords.' Le Cuir a Paris anticipates attracting some 300 exhibitors at its debut edition and to date exhibitors from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Australia, Ethiopia and South Africa have confirmed their participation. A pavilion at the show will be used to focus on quality exotic leathers such as crocodile, lizard, ostrich and fish, coming from the US and South Africa.
