New President and CEO at Atlas Refinery

24 January 2011

Atlas Refinery, manufacturer of environmentally friendly fatliquors and specialty chemicals for the leather industry, have promoted Steven B Schroeder, Jr. to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer.  The promotion ensures the heritage of Schroeder family leadership at Atlas will continue well into the 5th generation.

Schroeder is a graduate of Duke University with a BS in economics and a certificate in marketing and management studies.  He began his career in Investment Banking at JP Morgan Securities in New York and was a top performer within the Equity Capital Markets group.

In February 2005, Schroeder joined Atlas Refinery to carry on the family legacy and within two years he was promoted to Executive Vice President.  In recent years, Schroeder has assumed direct management responsibilities of Atlas’ global sales and marketing efforts and has been the driving force behind the company’s restructuring of its worldwide distribution network.  Sales in 2010 reached record levels and Atlas is well positioned for continued growth in the coming years.

Steven B. Schroeder, Sr will assume the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Office. ‘As Chairman and CEO of Atlas, I am extraordinarily proud and honoured to promote Steven Jr to this position as he has consistently demonstrated his knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication since joining Atlas. He has travelled and met with nearly all our extensive global network of agents, dealers and customers throughout the leather industry.  I have no doubt that he has earned the respect and admiration of the industry and that he is an excellent choice to lead our family business into the 5th generation and beyond.’

The new management structure will take effect on February 1, 2011.
