15 December 2003

Spanish leather chemical makers, Cromogenia Units, introduced three new retanning agents and two new fatliquors at Tanning Tech. A brief outline of each of the new products is given below. Retanning agents: Retanal PDB: A protein derived product combined with an anionic synthetic tanning agent to provide extra fullness. It is particularly suitable for pretannage and retannage of footwear leathers. This product offers a high degree of levelness with good fullness. Retanal PNB: Also a protein derived product combined with an anionic synthetic tanning agent with a very low astringency. It has been designed to be used on very soft leathers and it offers a high degree of levelness and excellent dye performance. Retanal TRT: A protein derivative combined with a stabilised tara extract. It is particularly suitable for the retannage of automotive upholstery leather and upholstery leathers made with wet-white tannages. Fatliquors: Retanal PR-165: This is a fatliquoring polymer that provides the leather with excellent grain firmness and a soft feel. PR-165 also has a low extractability. Repelan PSH-171: A polymeric product with an excellent waterproofing capacity. It provides the leather with a soft feel and is ideal for washable leathers as it has low water absorption.
