New website for the WOA

30 December 2003

The World Ostrich Association (WOA) has a new, more dynamic web site: http://www.world-ostrich.org The WOA has been founded to lead the industry in a successful transition from breeder market to commercial production by representing the international ostrich industry through communication, dissemination of information and provision of industry standards. There is a Bulletin Board for questions and answers as well as promotion of goods and services between members. One of the most important tasks of the WOA is the setting of Industry Standards to enable the Ostrich industry to compete on level terms to mainstream livestock production industries. There is also a Country Liaison program to enable all who are actively involved in developing the industry in their region to be reached. The Association is internet-based as it ensures that operating costs are kept to a minimum and communication optimised by overcoming the challenges that different time zones create. Their first ANuual General Meeting was held online on 1st December 2003. Membership remains at US$100 per year and all involved in commercial aspects of the industry are encouraged to join.
