Norwegian cattle in 2007

Statistics Norway reports that there were 906,247 cattle on farms in Norway in 2007, compared with 922,976 in 2006 and 1.03 million back in 1999. The average number of cattle per agricultural holding last year was 46, compared with 44.5 in 2006.


The largest number of cattle per holding, 59.1, in 2007 was in Nord Trøndelag county, followed by 58 in Vestfold county. The smallest number per holding, 27.7, was in Hordaland county, followed by 28.5 in Sogn og Fjordane county.
