Obituary – Jean Heyer

18 January 2011

The death of Jean Heyer has been announced with deep regret from Stahl. Heyer had been fighting a serious illness for some time. After an initial recovery there was a relapse and he sadly died on January 10, at the exceptionally early age of 56.

Jean Heyer spent most of his career in the Stahl Wet-End Division (formerly C&TP), initially with ICI in France and Asia and, since 1993, with Stahl Australasia in management positions in both wet-end and leather finish.

Working with Stahl for almost 35 years, he was a man who served the company with determination, commitment and incredible energy. He was instrumental in the growth and prosperity of Stahl by creating a strong market position in the Asia Pacific Region. His experience in the field, combined with extensive travel in the region, provided him with the opportunity to get to know very well Stahl’s agents, distributors and customers alike. He was well-known and respected by colleagues all over the world and by many people and friends in the trade, not only but especially in the Asia Pacific area.

Stahl have lost a highly valued colleague and his many friends within the company and in the Asia Pacific leather industry will miss him sorely.

Jean Heyer
