The International Ostrich Leather Forum will be staged on March 30, 2001, immediately before the raw materials edition of Asia Pacific Leather Fair, in Room 206, Phase II of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Speakers and topics at this forum: G Zeni from Kore (Italy): How to increase the use of ostrich leather in the fashion world. Ferran Figuerola from Avestruces (Spain): How can ostrich leather become a fashion trend in Europe and how can this trend be developed Ken Ogiso from Stock Kojima (Japan): The handbag and fashion trends in Japan, the size of the competition and how the international skin marketers should handle this very important market. Noboru Ishii, president Takara (Japan): The tanning and development of ostrich skins in Japan. Herve Loubert from Gordon-Choisy (France): Topic to be confirmed. Prof Minn from the Koncuk University (Korea): Topic to be confirmed. Sarel Broodryk from Exotan (South Africa) will be the opening speaker. According to the NOPSA secretary, for the first time in the world, there will be an ostrich trend area organised by NOPSA, next to the NOPSA pavilion (South Africa) and there will be other similar companies from other countries but specialised in ostrich and exotic leathers (fish skin, shark, stringray, alligator, reptile, etc) gathered in the same product sector. As a result, there will be new brands highlighting exotic leathers or bags at APLF events.
