Otto Dille celebrate centenary

21 April 2008

For exactly 100 years Otto Dille have been dealing with the import and export of vegetable tanning agents and has developed into a trading company known far beyond Germany.

In 1908 Otto Dille founded a trading company for vegetable tanning agents. Herbert Baeck became a joint partner in the mid-thirties and following Otto Dille's death in 1943 became sole owner of the company, which then developed into one of the largest distributors of vegetable tanning agents on both the domestic and international markets. He recognised quite early that the production of leather would be relocated more and more from the European industrial nations to third world countries and consequently attached special importance to business relationships with North Africa, Asia and Central America. As a result of this policy has a major market share in Germany and abroad. For many decades Otto Dille has represented large manufacturers of wattle-bark, quebracho and chestnut extracts. The company also trades in fruit, bark and some special extracts such as Myrabolan, Sumach, Tara and Valonea. In addition, Otto Dille sells Lignosulphonates. The product range includes a series of different types, standard qualities as well as special productions. Since the mid-2003 merger of the Otto Dille group of companies into Baeck GmbH & Co they have been run as a separate department and the trademark Otto Dille is protected. The third generation of the family to be involved in Otto Dille will continue to offer customer focused policies.
