Pakistan's first in-house effluent treatment plant inaugurated at Royal Leather

Royal Leather Industries first effluent treatment plant, located in Sheikhupura, was inaugurated by Neils Veenis, first secretary of development of the Royal Netherlands Embassy. In his inauguration address Veenis noted the spirit of Royal Leather Industries who have become a role model for other tanneries in Pakistan. He added that the country's tanners had shown a responsible attitude during the implementation of cleaner production technologies phase-1 and phase-11. Agha Saiddain, president of the environmental society of the Pakistan Tanners' Association lauded the technical assistance of the Embassy in the introduction of environment management systems in the tanneries of Punjab. Saiddain added that the ETP set up by Royal Leather Industries would be the first in the country to meet national environmental quality standards.
