Permair Austins awarded ISO accreditation

Porvair International have announced that Permair Austins Ltd, a joint venture between UK based Porvair International Ltd and Hong Kong based Austins Marmon Ltd, have been awarded the ISO 9002 stamp of approval. Work to secure the ISO 9002 was initiated last August by evidencing the factory's manufacturing quality and materials management procedures are consistently up to the highest International levels. The joint venture, which licenses Permair Austins to manufacture and market Permair Leather in China, exclusively in Hong Kong and Guangdong province, and non-exclusively in The Peoples Republic of China, was inaugurated in February 1997. The ISO accreditation was a key medium term goal for Permair Austins general manager Barry Knight following his appointment two years ago. Upon receiving the accreditation Barry said: 'This achievement signifies how Sino West partnerships can operate together in promoting China as the manufacturing base of choice for quality leather and footwear brands.' Allen Glubka, chairman of Permair Austins Ltd, said: 'We have achieved another major step in bringing operations here in China up to the International requirements that our customers, with global brands in the retail market place, are expecting. '
