Photo competition against counterfeiting

21 November 2012

AIMPES, the Italian Association of Leather Product Manufacturers have collaborated with the Italian Institute of Photography in Milan to raise awareness about counterfeiting of leather products.

The promotion titled “Da noi I falsi sono banditi” is aimed at the consumer through a series of 24 images made by photography students using interpretations of fake leather goods.

Aimpes say that counterfeiting in the accessory and clothing industry costs around €12 billion a year and damages the competitiveness of many SME’s.

“It also damages the consumer, because when they come into contact with fake goods they run the risk of coming into contact with harmful materials and illegal dyes”, says Giorgio Cannara, President Aimpes and Mipel.

Three of the top images were awarded a prize at the Lineapelle show last October.
