Première Vision New York at Manhattan's Pier 94

Première Vision New York will demonstrate the best in fashion with an extended offering of five shows – accessories, manufacturing, fabrics, designs and leather – and the development of the yarns and knits sectors. On 17–18 July at Pier 94, guests will see a rise in the number of exhibitors, as more than 40 new companies make their way to New York for the first time. In addition, the show will offer an unparalleled opportunity for professionals in the fashion industry to gain insight on the latest trends, solutions and new partnerships from the 287 exhibitors present.

Fashionable tools

Many fashion tools will be at the visitors’ disposal to enhance their experience. The colour range provides inspiration, as well as key seasonal information, and the Trend Tasting seminars will provide an analysis of the season’s colours and main trends.

This edition, for the first time, an audio guide made available through the show’s mobile app will enable visitors to discover the Forum, which displays a selection of the season’s most inspiring materials through explanatory audio tracks.

This offering is completed by seminars from industry experts, including creating the products of the future with Deborah Weinberg of minicool, taking a look at Promostyl’s sport and street trend forecast with designer Jerome LaMaar, and discussing ethics and globalisation with Jeanine Milillo of Carlin Creative Trend Bureau.

An expanded Smart Square

Since launching, the Smart Square multimedia space on eco-friendly fashion has been a great success, attracting numerous visitors and highlighting environmental issues that have always been part of Première Vision’s values. In 2018, it is expanding with Smart Talks, a series of roundtables and conferences focusing on the problems and challenges the fashion industry will face in the future.

This time around, Smart Talks will revolve around the circular economy and its relationship with design, smart innovation, communication, the creation of new business models and cooperation. Several speakers have been invited to talk about these themes, including experts from Ideo and other companies; specialists in global design and innovation; Descience, a global collective that explores the links between fashion and science; Arts Thread, the world’s leading network for new creatives; leading fashion consultant Julie Gilhart; and Luna Atamian Hahn-Petersen, a writer for the website Business of Fashion.

Supporting talent

The Hyères Festival exhibition is set to be a fantastic complement to the Smart Square. The winners of the Grand Jury Prize Première Vision, Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh, will present their highly political men’s collection: Fish or Fight.

Inspired by their history and origins, the duo has created a collection to promote deconstructed and versatile tailoring, while exposing industrial fishing and its consequences on local economies. Taking cues from the outfits of fishermen in the Caribbean, this colourful collection is an active statement, and an ode to the environment that illustrates Botter and Herrebrugh’s honest and authentic vision of fashion.

Première Vision continues its collaboration with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), in order to encourage local manufacturing and promote US know-how. Excitingly, this year, the CFDA is cooperating with manufacturers outside of New York.
