Rawhide market to be shifted

There are plans to relocate the raw hide market from downtown Kanpur to the raw material bank area at the Leather Technology Park, Banthar, Unnao. The plans were announced at the end of January by Mohammad Ishaq, chairman, export promotion and infrastructure development panel of U P Leather Industries Associations (UPLIA), Kanpur. He said that UPLIA, Utter Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) and Infrastructure Development Limited (IL & FS) have decided to jointly promote a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in the name of Infrastructure Services Limited. This SPV will be instrumental in developing a Raw Material Bank, or rawhide market to be located near the Leather Technology Park, Banthar, Unnao. About 100-150 acres of the land will be acquired by UPSIDC, to be developed by the Infrastructure Services Limited. The proposed Raw Material Bank will have first class roads, linking with National Highway No 25 (Lucknow-Kanpur Highway), sewage lines, electricity and water supply and will be available to entrepreneurs in multiples of 1,000 sq m plots. The entrepreneurs will be allowed to construct go-downs, offices, and shelter on their plots. Entrepreneurs who are interested in buying the land in the proposed project for the above purpose only, may apply to U P Leather Industries Association, the invitation letter & application forms may be obtained from UPLIA.
