Record Brazilian presence gets results at ACLE

10 September 2012

Brazilian leather was one of the highlights of the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) held in Shanghai, China, between September 4-6. Through the Brazilian Leather Project, Brazil had 16 companies participating at the 2012 edition of ACLE – the largest group from the country to-date. The record number of Brazilian tanneries at ACLE showed not only the quality of Brazilian leather to the international market, but also the sustainability process and production efficiency of the Brazilian national tanning industry.

The importance of Brazil’s presence at ACLE was also mentioned by Michael Duck, Director of the fair, in his welcoming speech during the official opening of the event at The New International Expo Centre in Pudong.
“We also welcome representatives of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brasil. Their initiative named the Brazilian Leather Project has resulted in the participation of 16 Brazilian tanneries in this year’s ACLE, the largest group from Brazil to-date”, said Duck at the opening ceremony.

Busy three days for Brazil
For the Brazilian companies the fair was a huge success, not only to get closer to existing clients, but also to open new markets, get to know new buyers and sell products. “ACLE generated new business for us and helped us get in touch with clients that we did not know before. We did good business here”, said Eduardo Tomazoni, from the company BR Leather. Participating for the first time at ACLE, Eloá Ortiz from Hason Internacional said that the fair was an example of professional organization. “ACLE was excellent. Great results. We will be in Hong Kong next year”, she stated. Francisco Arantes from Curtume Cacique noted that his company’s participation at ACLE was very positive due to the contacts made during the fair.

The Brazilian stands at ACLE had many visitors during the three days of the fair. The country's tanneries were able to get in touch with buyers from China, Taiwan, Korea, USA, Thailand, Italy, India, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Venezuela, Singapore, Egypt, Lebanon, Russia, Hong Kong, Portugal, Japan and Australia among others.
