Richard Graves

26 March 2009

It was with great sadness to report the death of Richard Graves on March 18, 2009. Richard Graves, joined the British School of Leather Technology, as a lecturer in 1980, having studied at the National Leathersellers College and worked at Garston Tanning Company and R B Sanders and Co.

Graves contributed significantly to the internationalisation of BSLT throughout ‘80s and ‘90s, and this remains a key platform for the development of the school. He retained a wide network of colleagues and friends across the world, from his work as both educator and consultant, by whom he will be greatly missed.

Richard Graves had a great sense of humour and was always a popular figure at BSLT among both students and colleagues. Coming from the tanning industry he also provided a hands-on practical approach to teaching to compliment the classroom theory.
