Rotopack from GER

1 February 2004

GER Elettronica have designed a machine which area measures finished leather and then is able to pack the leather for shipment. Rotopack is also able to label or stamp each piece of leather passing through and is fully automated. The model on display at Tanning Tech was designed for upholstery hides although it can be used on sides. Rotopack can process 600 leathers per hour and can also be linked to a computer for data storage or the internet. The leather can be stacked on either the grain or flesh side as whole hides, single or double folded sides with the grain inside or on a europallet. A maximum of 12 leathers can be added to a single stack. The leather is measured by infrared photocells spaced every 20mm. Measurements can be taken in m2, dm2, quarter of sq ft, tenths of a sq ft or by sq inch.
