Russian cattle numbers

Russia's State Statistics Committee reports that there were 22.2 million head of cattle in Russia on October 1 this year, a decrease of 1.1% compared with the number on the same date in 2007, according to the Interfax news agency.


A total of 90,900 tonnes of cattle for slaughter were produced in Russia in September, a month-on-month increase of 15.2% and a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. In the first nine months of this year, the production of cattle for slaughter was 0.8% higher year-on-year.
