SATRA insight for India's footwear elite

14 December 2005

Leading footwear industrialists in India have been given a first-hand insight into SATRA's range of products and services. An information workshop was hosted by SATRA member Mirza Tannery in Noida and attracted 40 delegates from fifteen companies. 'This event reflects our continuing strategy to keep members fully informed of the benefits we can offer', says Alan Drage of SATRA's membership team who also offered an overview of the technology centre's activities and revealed details of its latest research and development programmes. Phil Shaw, SATRA's supply chain business development manager, explained how the organisation can assist companies throughout the global supply chain and analysed recent developments in the Indian footwear industry. He also demonstrated SATRA's efficiency-enhancing software systems and explained how SATRA leather grading and laboratory accreditations can be achieved. Alan says: 'We recognise the potential within India and the desire of many companies there to reach world class standards. Those companies who export to the USA and European Union can use SATRA's accreditation awards to assure their customers that they have reached and can maintain internationally-recognised standards of design and manufacture.' This workshop continued a trend set earlier this year when SATRA held a similar workshop in Chennai, India, to coincide with the International Footwear Fair.
