Seven-month production in Eastern Europe

Macedonia's State Statistical Office has reported that the production of leather and leather products in Macedonia in the first seven months of this year was 1.8% lower than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, manufacturing output in Macedonia in the January to July period was 4.6% higher year-on-year. Serbia's Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Serbia in the first seven months of this year was 1.1% higher than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, Serbian industrial output in the January to July period was 5.1% higher year-on-year. Croatia's Central Statistics Bureau reports that the production of leather and leather products in Croatia in the first seven months of this year was 16.3% higher than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, industrial output in Croatia in the January to July period was 7.7% higher year-on-year. Hungary's Central Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Hungary in the first seven months of this year was 34.8% higher than in the same period in 2006. Manufacturers' sales of the same types of commodities in the January to July period were also 34.8% higher year-on-year, with a decrease in sales of 0.8% on the domestic Hungarian market and 42.3% higher sales on export markets. Slovakia's Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Slovakia continued to decline year-on-year in the first seven months of this year. Production was 3.3% lower than in the January to July period in 2006. In comparison, industrial output in Slovakia was 15.7% higher year-on-year. The Czech Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in the Czech Republic in the first seven months of this year was 0.9% higher than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, industrial output in the Czech Republic in the January to July period this year was 10.5% higher year-on-year.
