Shoe heir arrested
10 January 2008According to The Korea Times, Seoul, an heir to one of the nation's largest shoemakers was arrested on January 5, 2008, for allegedly hiring gangsters to beat up a former co-worker.
The Jungbu Police Station in Seoul said that last November at a country house in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, 47-year-old Lee, son of the founder of Esquire, beat up and tortured a man named Park, 42, with the help of two or more gangsters.Apparently he was attempting to regain the 1.7 billion won he had earlier invested Park's business. The offender reportedly forced Park to sign a 2 billion won check and to sell a car that he owned. He also allegedly showed the victim photographs of his family, threatening to kill them.
