Stahl at IILF Chennai

20 December 2004

Stahl India's display at the Indian International Leather Fair to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre between January 31 and February 4, 2005, will use locally manufactured products to form the basis of the finishes on the leathers on display. Colours and effects will be drawn from the Fashion Forecast for Autumn 2005/Winter 2006 and Spring 2006. Several of the leather finishing products will be aimed at upgrading and improving gloss. A good gloss top coat with a natural touch will incorporate WT-22-104, a polishable polyurethane, while another polyurethane, RU-27-009, will be used as a polishing ground to give improved gloss and a glazed look. The new EX-65-072 cationic oil filler that is spray applied and then polished or plated, will be used on soft leathers without firming. A natural look and feel will be shown using WT-13-400 acrylic top coat which provides good physical properties without using crosslinkers. Similarly, excellent cover and filling will be achieved using the new deep black pigment, PP-18-014. Following on with the black theme, a new black protein binder, BI-27-101, will be used for both glazing finishes and in resin base coats to give a deep jet black colour. Burnished finishes will use a new filler, FI-54 and a waxy effect will be achieved using EX-54-786, which is a new Kuppenglanz wax that produces a distinct polished two-tone effect after ironing or dry milling. Upgrading using stucco techniques will be shown with RC-27-107 sealer that can be spray applied without the need for rebuffing and can be used on full grain leathers, and with FI-18-180, a hand applied stucco for use on furniture leathers. Many finished leathers will be supported by wet end products from Stahl's Colours & Tanning Products Business. One of the highlights of these products will be a brand new locally-made highly-concentrated acrylic resin, Renektan RS40, that imparts good tightness without hardening the leather. Furniture retannage on buffalo leathers will be shown using Corilene N60 super soft marine oil and Corilene AF, a member of Stahl's Compact PolymerFamily giving retanning and softening simultaneously. A range of garment nappas on bovine leathers will be shown using Corilene SSD, a super soft compact polymer, and Corilene UL which is based on semi-synthetic and natural oils giving the required inner softness and low density. Another section of the display will show vegetable-character chrome retanned bovine leathers created using Synektan RFD, a locally-manufactured replacement Syntan and Renektan FBN, a melamine-based syntan for selective filling but with extremely low free-formaldehyde residues. The new Salem ranges will be represented with Salem X, a bi-sulfited Neatsfoot oil and Salem R, a blend of sulfated natural products, both typical shoe upper fatliquors. Also being shown will be Salem GC, a sulfated natural product which is highly bleached, exhausts completely, and is a typical oil for goat shoe, gloving and suede leathers The final section of the display will show shoes featuring Stahl India's new Jet Black Antique Cream and Supertique® AP 28800 colours. Sole finishes on display will include SF-28-855 for leather soles and SF-13-855 matt black finish. This wide-ranging display will clearly show the in-depth range of locally-made products that are now be manufactured by Stahl India and which are supported by a complete range of products from other Stahl units around the world and supported by fully-experienced sales technicians based in India able to call on direct support from other Stahl companies.
