Success for vegetable tanned leather

5 June 2008

The Consortium of Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission hosted its Natural Sensations event in Seoul for the first time. The event took place at the Lotte Hotel and saw the participation of more than 320 people. The first part of the event was dedicated to manufacturing companies, designers and journalists while a second catered for fashion institutes.

On entering the hall, participants were introduced to the world of genuine Italian vegetable tanned leather through suggestive pictures of the production process but particularly by the display of some wonderful manufactured products created using leathers from the associated tanneries.
The director of the Italian Trade Commission Giuseppe Pezzullo opened the workshop with a speech that highlighted how Korea is the right market for high quality leather such as
vegetable tanned leather.
Korea is in constant economic development and, as the director said, will have to differentiate its production to focus on quality in order to overcome competition from economic powers such as China. He believes that the use of veg tanned leather is one way to achieve this.
Andrea Ghizzani, president of the Consortium, explained and demonstrated the qualities and values of vegetable tanned leather and the activities of the Consortium. Diane Becker, trend consultant, then presented the new fashion trends for spring/summer 2009.
