Tara powder from Exandal

1 December 2004

Exandal Corp are one of the largest producers of tara powder (Tanex FP). Exandal's corporate office is located in California, USA, and their production plant is located in Lima, Peru. Exandal's facility operates with the most modern and efficient technology and, therefore, they are able to guarantee a top quality tara powder at the most competitive and stable price. Tara powder is a natural source of tannins used in a broad range of fields such as the manufacture of leather. It is used in many leather applications, because it is free of potentially harmful substances and, consequently, allows the tanner to obtain very bright and lightfast leathers. Likewise, Exandal's tara powder results in soft and fine leathers with a very fine and tight grain. The grain has a higher resistance to breaking compared with leathers produced with other natural tannins. One of the main applications for Exandal's tara powder is as a retan for car or furniture upholstery leather, as it provides a good feel, even filling and high lightfastness. The tannin in tara powder contains practically no colouring and, therefore, results in very bright, light-resistant leather. The powder can be used in combination with other vegetable extracts for the tannage of sheep and goat skins and reptiles, and for the retannage of every kind of chrome leather, both full or corrected grain, especially when they are to be finished in white or pastel tones.
