The end in sight for Pielespaña?

21 November 2005

There are conflicting reports from Spain on the future of the Pielespaña show, which is traditionally held in January. Some sources believe the event has merely been postponed, and organisers Fira de Barcelona state that it will be held at a later date in conjunction with the 'Proyecto general de la moda en Catalunya' Catalan fashion project. However, another source on the organising committee told Leather International that Pielespaña has been cancelled and will never be held again. The source said that the decision to cancel the fair had been taken by the Fira de Barcelona due to lack of interest and declining visitor numbers in the past two years. Pielespaña is the showcase event for doubleface, nappa and suede garment leathers and features tanners and garment makers from Spain and other European countries.
