TUC leader looks at new technology for golf

The new General Secretary of the TUC, Brendan Barber, has been looking at new leather technology for golf. He recently visited Pittards, one of the world's leading leather manufacturers, where he visited the research and development laboratory and saw how new 'technically advantaged' golfing leathers were manufactured. Pittards work with the leading golfing brands to develop leathers with unique properties for the golfing market. For instance, in the FootJoy StaSof golf gloves, the Pittards leather has been enhanced with graphite to ensure ultimate grip and control. The FootJoy Dry-Ice golf shoes have had additional properties bonded to every fibre in the leather to ensure extra comfort, water repellency and durability on the golf course. Barber said he was most impressed with the new technology that can be incorporated into what looks like normal soft leather - although he did add it might take a little more than the latest technology to improve his game!
