Turkish production and foreign trade

Türkiye's State Statistics Institute reports that Turkish leather and leather products exports in June were 8.1% higher than in May and 29.1% higher than in June last year. Turkish imports of the same types of commodities in June were 13.1% lower month-on-month and 12.4% higher year-on-year. Leather production in Türkiye in the first half of this year was reported as 14.6% higher than in the same period in 2005. In comparison, manufacturing output inTürkiye in the January to June period was 6.3% higher year-on-year. The Turkish leather industry was operating at 58.6% of its overall production capacity in July, compared with 61.5% in the same month last year. In comparison, Turkey's manufacturing industry was operating at 71.9% capacity, as against 70.5% in July 2005.
