Ukraine's State Statistics Committee reports that Ukraine imported raw leather, leather and leather products worth US$17.8 million in the first two months of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 44.3%.


Exports of the same types of commodities in January and February were worth US$22.5 million, a year-on-year decrease of 59.7%.

The average monthly wage in Ukraine's leather industry in the first quarter of this year was US$126, compared with US$119 in the same period in 2008. In comparison, the average monthly industrial wage in Ukraine in this year's first quarter was US$244.

There were 5.61 million head of cattle in Ukraine on April 1 this year, 5.8% fewer than on the same date in 2008. In terms of region, the Vinnytsya oblast, with 392,500, had the most cattle on April 1 this year, 2.4% fewer year-on-year, followed by the Lviv oblast with 355,600, a year-on-year decrease of 7.1%.
