USHSLA and CLIA co-operate on non-compliance contracts
18 January 2012An announcement was distributed to the USHSLA (US Hide, Skin and Leather Association) membership by President John Reddington this week concerning non-performing purchase/sales contracts.
The memo said that the USHSLA have requested member firms to advise of any Chinese tanners who had not been honouring higher priced sales contracts and asked for further cases of non compliance. Those names have been and will continue to be sent to the CLIA (China Leather Industry Association) who have promised to investigate. Both the USHSLA and the CLIA have agreed not to make these lists public, but both organisations have agreed to work together to resolve these issues.
