Vegetable leather solutions from Tanac

23 March 2006

At the APLF this year, Tanac will be focusing on their very natural products, some of which are specially designed for manufacturing a large variety of veg tanned leathers: Syntac VG is a pretanning agent. This product is a polymerization of a vegetable tanning agent with naphthalene-sulfone. It has reduced astringency, and imparts fast penetration and excellent dispersion of tannins, preventing settling and pebbling. At the same time, it enhances softness and fullness. Royaltan, a tanning and retanning agent, is an astringent acid vegetable extract. It is ideal to fix tanning at the end of the sole leather manufacturing process. It has a yellow-greenish shade and provides excellent yield and fullness. Leathers retanned with Royaltan have a firm and fine grain with a very compact fibre structure. The product is highly suitable for waterproofing leathers. Macrospec TP is a modified vegetable extract which performs very well in the retanning of automotive upholstery and furniture leathers. As a result of advanced R&D studies, Macrospec TP gives fast and thorough penetration, and results in ultrasoft leathers. In addition, it also exhibits properties usually associated with vegetable extracts such as good printing/embossing effects, fullness, and a good grain break after dry-milling. Syntac CW is a polymeric syntan ideal for retanning and dispersion of dyestuffs and vegetable extracts. Its outstanding dispersing power distributes and levels the penetration of retanning chemicals, as well as dyestuffs. These features provide effective and selective filling. In addition, it has been designed to act as a compound for retanning dark coloured leathers, Syntac CW enables the tanner to achieve higher dispersion and equalization, intensifying the dyeing processes, with higher dyestuff uptake and reduced costs. The Tanac stand will be located in the Brazilian pavilion with João Carlos Graeff, Enio Medina, Paulo Costa and Osmar Graff in attendance.
