Wenzhou hosts leather and footwear fairs

14 July 2005

The 10th edition of the China leather fair will be held from September 13-15 offering a wide range of leathers, synthetics, machinery and chemical products. It will take place in the China International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wenzhou. The tenth edition of All China Shoe Tech, offering a range of machinery for footwear, accessories, components, and CAD-CAM systems will run alongside the China Leather Fair in the same venue. Organisers expect to welcome 20,000 Chinese visitors and 3,000 more from Hong Kong, Taiwan and up to 40 other countries. The fair's organisers have created a special project to invite delegations representing the most important sectors of the Chinese industry from major manufacturing areas such as Dalingshan, Guangdong province, and Haining in the province of Zhejiang. Donnor exhibitions feel the event will reflect China's extremely strong production capacity and ever increasing turnover. They state that the growing spending power of the Chinese population mean many Chinese companies are showing increased interest in higher quality materials that enhance the appeal of their products. They predict this phenomenon will result in the import of substantial quantities of finished and semi-finished leather for use in the manufacture of footwear, accessories and luggage. A further fair, focused on the footwear industry will take place one month later. The 5th China international shoe fair (CISF) will take place in Wenzhou from 12-15 October. Wenzhou is known as the Chinese shoe capital and is home to more than 4,500 footwear manufacturers and organisers feel that CISF will provide a bridge between buyers and suppliers at home and abroad. Visitors to the fair will also have the opportunity to visit a number of the footwear manufacturers located in industrial parks around Wenzhou.
