Wet-end and finishing compounds from Toprak

19 December 2005

Turkish chemical producers Toprak unveiled their latest innovations at Tanning Tech. The company produce a range of chemicals under the generic brand-name Arc-en-ciel with beamhouse products through to finishing. Arcoil CB is a special compound fatliquor for vegetable and synthetic tanned leathers. The yellow-brown liquid has a pH of 6.5. Arcoil CB is ideal for use in leathers which require a high degree of softness and a pleasant silky handle as well as high tear resistance without causing looseness in the grain. This fatliquor can be used on its own or combined with other anionic fatliquors. Arcoil CB is suitable for use in the production of all kinds of leather including garment, furniture and softy shoe upper leathers. Hidrofob M-40 is a cationic fatliquor for chrome tanned leathers. The white liquid has a pH of 5 and offers high heat resistance, lightfastness and colour uniformity. As it is stable to electrolytes, alkalis and acids, it is also stable to cationic, non-ionic and amphoteric chemicals. M-40 is also beneficial when used in chromium floats due to its stability to acids and chromium. Hidrofob M-40 increases chromium penetration and tear resistance as it increases chromium uptake. It can be emulsified in water in any ratios. Arcanacryl CL is a pretanning resin for chromium or non-chromium leathers. The polymer solution contains free reactive groups and has a pH of 7. It fills empty areas of the leather without causing area loss. Due to its amphoteric structure, the product can be used in a wide pH range. When used as a pretanning agent, it ensures excellent chromium exhaustion of leathers in a chromium float. It is particularly recommended for production of white and pastel coloured leathers. It has very high lightfastness and tear resistance. Arcanacryl CL produces leathers with fine and full grains. WS M 35 is a water-based silicone emulsion. The white liquid is non-ionic and has a pH of 8. WS M 35 provides a natural touch and increases wet rub fastness. WLO 40 for solvent systems is a mixture of odour-free solvent-based waxes. WLO 40 is a wax dispersion of the aliphatic solvent. Application via rollercoater creates an excellent pull-up effect on the leather when used alone or with other products in the WLO range. Leathers processed with WLO 40 have a silky touch, are glossy and easily polishable. WLA BRIL 769 S is a modified protein based binder. It is anionic and has a pH of 8. The ivory-coloured liquid gives a pleasant handle and polish without any deformation of grain. It can be combined with casein, resin binders, pigments or liquid dyes.
