World Leather Congress set for Rio

9 March 2011

The city of Rio de Janeiro has been chosen to host the World Leather Congress (WLC) on November 9, 2011. WLC is an official event organised by the International Council of Tanners (ICT) with support from the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and Couromoda Trade Fairs.
Entitled: 'Global Leather Summit - Present and Future' the event will take place at the Hotel Sofitel - Copacabana beach along with the World Footwear Congress (WFC) which is going to take in the same venue on November 7-8. The WFC is expected to attract 600 delegates.

The WLC will include specialist speakers from more than 14 countries that all play an important role in the leather supply chain. A full launch and announcement will be made during a press conference at the APLF in Hong Kong on March 30. Topics to be discussed at the WLC include some of the most important issues facing the industry such as raw materials, international trade, ecology, market trends, fashion and future trends for footwear, upholstery and leather goods leathers.

The organisers also have support from the Brazilian government and are hoping to attract 300 delegates to attend from across the entire leather supply chain.
