At the end of November, Unic and Conciaricerca started with a training course at the Technical Institute 'Baldracco', Turin, for tannery workers; the participants were all members of the Maghreb community from the town. Unic are also ready to organise some specialisation courses, after high school degrees, for young technicians on subjects such as environment, quality etc.

THE CHROMATE-BASED azo dye known popularly as 'navy blue' is to be banned from use throughout the 15 European Union countries from June 2004, the European Commission has announced.
