TFL’s new Colour Trend Catalogue for the season spring/summer 2011 presents the trends for the leather garment, footwear, accessory and additionally for the upholstery industry. TFL also provide some technical applications to achieve some of the leathers outlined in the two themes.

Spring and summer! It’s a time of the year when many people are looking forward to holidays. It’s a time of sunshine when fashions and colours are bright and cheerful, when there’s a tendency to a simple approach to life. A simpler way of looking at colour is behind the new look for spring and summer 2011 that Stahl’s new Design Studio consultants, Bianco and White, have used in their first presentation of a Fashion Colour Forecast

Exhibiting tanners attending Le Cuir A Paris submitted over 5,000 leather samples for the trend area of which 1,200 were finally selected and allocated into five trend and colour themes at the exhibition held September 15-18. Leathers highlighted were for the autumn/winter 2010/11 season

Stahl have produced their latest colour forecast for spring and summer of 2010 in both booklet and poster formats. The booklet has been designed to provide customers with additional illustrative information which attempts to suggest how and where the colours may be used thus creating a clearer understanding of the thinking behind its design. The aim is to bring into focus a closer relationship between fashion effects and colours and ways in which leather will support these.

Majorca-based footwear brand Camper have unveiled their latest collection In line with the company’s ethos, the spring-summer 2009 collection for men, women and children prioritises design and comfort.

In Italy, the home of fashion, the leather experts at specialty chemicals company LANXESS develop innovative recipes and processes to satisfy the fashion sector’s every wish. In the company’s own competence centre in Santa Croce, which includes a laboratory and applications development department, they have once again prepared leather samples illustrating the trends for the Spring/Summer 2010 season.

Trendsetters from Kingston University’s Department of Fashion are banishing bling in favour of more timeless garments made from ethically-sourced products. The young designers, who showcased their final collections at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on May 28, have placed a strong emphasis on global issues and the environment.
Of the array of talent on display, Poppy Dover’s collection places particular importance on leather. Many of the garments are in black leather with a ‘paprika’ accent colour. Created for the ‘sleek, sexy woman’, they are inspired by nostalgia for the 1980s and particularly by the women who dominated the decade with what Poppy refers to as their ‘masculine-femininity’, such as Madonna and Kylie. The designer feels that the stars’ use of leather garments was particularly important in conveying the ‘girl power’ message. She was further drawn to leather for its natural qualities and the fact that it improves and gains new characteristics with age and wear. Poppy is keen to continue working with leather in the future and is particularly looking for a design-oriented role which will allow her to do this.

TFL have once again worked with Italian designers Sergio Belloni and Carmen Rimoldi to create their colour forecast for spring/summer 2009.

Stahl says, ‘Have fun!' and don't take fashion too seriously while playing with colours and material contrasts. The meanings of ‘Techno' and ‘Futuristic' have changed, giving a new approach to nature and the environment. Techno takes over a new raw vegetal look. ‘Futuristic' takes lightness and softness to a much higher level.
