Costil tannery closure
Published: 05 September, 2005
Conflicting reports have claimed the Costil tannery at Pont Audemer in northern France has closed, along with the Strasbourg plant. Others say Strasbourg is still operating successfully. Pont Audemer has experienced a number of financial problems in recent years and in recent times has been operating under two different owners with Colomer of Spain taking part of the Pont Audemer complex along with the Strasbourg unit. The remainder was purchased by Tanneries Roux. According to Le Cuir, the Colomer/Pont Audemer business has gone into liquidation with a closure date of July 31.
